2026 Malaysia International Junior Open

EVENT OVERVIEW

The Malaysia International Junior Open is a 54 hole WAGR counting event and the premier junior event staged by the Malaysian Golf Association and attracts top players from around the region.

In 2026, the event will again be held on the signature championship “Straights Course” at the Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort (TPGR) in Johor Malaysia, a great location with onsite accommodation and a challenging layout.

This event attracts a top field reflected in the WAGR Event Power rankings, in 2025 both the boys and girls events exceeded the power ranking of any junior strokeplay event held in Australia.  Both 2025 MIJO champions currently sit inside the WAGR top 500, with the girls champion (Prim Prachnakorn of Thailand) currently 33rd after making the cut and final rounds at the 2026 Augusta National Womens Amateur championship.

Let’s not forget our very own champion from our Vines event this year, Sahei Suh, netted herself a fantastic cash prize by making a hole in one on her second hole of the championship in 2024!!

PRE-EVENT TRAINING

In 2025 we attended this event early and spent 3 days at a training camp with the players from the Malaysian Golf Association National Junior Development Program.

This was an excellent opportunity to get familiarised and acclimatised to the conditions before the WAGR event started.  It consisted of a mix of fitness, information and skills work across three days.  Each day also included 18 holes on course match-play.

We are considering this and discussign with the event organiser what this will look like for 2026.
