5th Selangor International Junior Golf Championship
EVENT OVERVIEW
The Selangor International Junior Golf Championship is an invitation only event that attracts high quality golfers from around SE Asia. 2026 marks the 5th installment of the prestigious event.
This is a WAGR counting individual event and also a teams event that attracts the top players and teams. In 2025, first prize for the teams event was $1000USD.
Played at Kelab Golf Seri Selangor Golf Course in Kuala Lumpur the week before the Selangor Masters (an Asian Development Tour Event), the course is setup to the championship standard with the individual winner earning an entry into the Selangor Masters.
We have been fortunate enough to have people at this event for the past two years, and each year the event has had WAGR event power well exceeding all Australian junior golf events including the Australian Junior Amateur Championship.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This event has specific entry requirements and we must enter teams.
We have an opportunity for a boys team that must include 4 players. We also have the opportunity for a girls team that must include 4 players.
Entry is open to players who are under 19 on Feb 5th 2026, ideally we would be looking for WAGR ranked players or players with a single figure handicap.
This event will be partly subsidised for our selected players.
It is anticipated we will have a schedule something like:
Feb 3 – Travel Day to KL
Feb 4 – Official Practice Round & welcome ceremony
Feb 5-7 – Event Rounds
Feb 7 (Night) – Return flight to Perth
ESTIMATED COSTS
Final costing can not be completed until bookings are made. There will be JNR representatives travelling with the group and parents are welcome to attend but travelling at their own cost. (more details on this below)
Inclusive of:
- Return Airfare
- Accommodation
- Airport transfers and other ground transport
- Most meals
- Team shirts (4 per player)
- Event Entry including practice round
The estimated total cost per player is approximately $2550. Players selected for this event will be subsidised to attend with estimated player cost of $1750.
Parents:
Parents are welcome to attend and we can do our best to accommodate parents as part of the team travel arrangements. Parents should note however that there are strict rules on spectators at these events, including sometimes limited access to course or a requirement to only walk on the course paths (not fairways etc). In particular communication and contact with players during rounds is not allowed as per the terms of competition for the event.
